A night out

On Saturday, we actually received two invitations to dinner!  As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours!  Now, two invitations to dinner may not seem like much, but you have to realize that we haven’t been invited to dinner at all in the past three months aside from formal, work-related dinners.  So receiving two invitations was a very unexpected and pleasant surprise!

Since we received an invitation to join Mrs. Wang for dinner before we got a call from Vanessa, we had dinner with Mrs. Wang.  Much to our surprise, we found out upon our arrival to dinner at a hotel (this is a common practice for formal dinners) that we had been invited to a family dinner!  It was a very enjoyable and comfortable evening!  Mrs. Wang’s niece, who apparently speaks the best Mandarin (since they teach it in school and most people speak one of 52 completely different dialects), taught us some Chinese.  After dinner, we all went to Mrs. Wang’s house then her brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and niece took us to South Lake Square for a walk and some continued Chinese lessons.  It was such a fun evening!
