Pots and pans
A couple of days ago, Mrs. Wang knocked on our office door.
We opened the door to find her holding a frying pan and a box containing a wok and a pot. These, she explained, were for us.
Well, because we performed in the talent show. She had tried to tell our superiors that these were not practical gifts for us since we still have to master the art of Chinese cooking, but they had already purchased them. So we got them.
And while it is true that these might not have been the perfect gift, they are useful. As it turns out, making grilled cheese in an old wok can be a frustrating experience. The bread burns, but the cheese doesn’t even melt.
But with our new frying pan, we can make perfect grilled cheese! We enjoyed some for lunch today!
