A tropical snow fall

It has recently begun to snow here in the “tropical” (as the Chinese government classifies it) climate of the Hunan province.  Waking up to the snow falling the other day was delightful!  It was so incredibly beautiful.  However, it took me until we were trudging through the snow on an adventure in Changsha on Sunday to realize why I thought the trees looked so amazing.  The deciduous trees here haven’t lost their leaves, but it is still snowing!  It was astonishing to see the snow on the leaves, much like the snow on pine trees.  Oh the quirks of living in China…
